What it's all about:

This four-part series will explore mysticism as it is now being defined and written about by theologians and mystics, themselves, like Matthew Fox, Richard Rohr, and Mirabai Starr. You will have the opportunity to learn what a mystic is; what the lives, music, art and poetry of three mystics have to say to us today—Hildegard of Bingen, Thomas Merton and Mary Oliver; and where your inner mystic lies as you live your ordinary daily life. Each session will begin with a meditation on a creative work of the mystic for that week followed by a brief overview of the mystic’s life using their teachings to inform our lives today and bring us closer to our true selves. The series will culminate with a sharing about a mystic you have known in your own life, perhaps even yourself!

Our facilitator:

Betsy Perry describes herself as a reluctant mystic on an inner journey in the midst of everyday life. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and retiree, she has a freedom now to pursue her inner journey as a student in Spiritual Direction with The Haden Institute and as a Kundalini Yoga Instructor. Her background as a nurse, teacher, and administrator informs her work now in retirement. But her greatest teacher right now is her granddaughter, soon to turn three, who brings light into each moment as her consciousness, personality, and spirit unfold in a happy, healthy, and loving environment. Betsy is a former staff member of Lumunos.
