About The Event

What it's all about:

Since social distancing became the new reality, prospects abound for virtual connections such as participating in Zoom meetings, exercising though online courses, or making videos for Facebook. In addition, it is suggested that we call “old friends” with whom we’ve lost touch, reach out to at least 5 different people each week, or reconnect with family members to whom we’ve not spoken in a long time. These are all worthy suggestions. And yet, they ignore the importance of connecting with a specific individual on an ongoing basis. They may not increase the possibility of deepening a significant friendship with someone who can hold the hope for us.

In this hour-long online conversation, we'll explore the importance of deepening friendships during these trying times. We’ll share ideas for and stories about holding the hope for one another. Join us if you're looking for a time to listen, share (if you choose), connect, and reflect.

*Suzanne is an ordained United Church of Christ pastor who is conducting research on clergy women in retirement. She believes that friendship is sacred and grows best as well as deepest when tended on a regular basis.
