Awakening the Sage Within

Awakening the Sage Within:  Hearing Wisdom’s Call

Where do you find Wisdom—within yourself, a mentor, the Bible, your women’s group?

What does it mean to be a Sage?

How do we listen for Wisdom’s call in our busy lives?

How do we live with greater confidence into a way of Wisdom?

Women Dancing

The women of this retreat will gather around the themes of wisdom and call using stories, exercises, creative expression, and reflection questions for sharing and discussion.   As “companions” on this retreat, women will develop a vision of what it means to awaken the Sage within and live life more grounded in wisdom.  Using sacred relational group process, women are invited to discern their call to wisdom as they…

        Explore what it means to have wisdom and where it comes from;

        Listen to their lives and find their dependable, time-tested strengths;

        Re-connect with Sages from the past and present;

        Create new ways of living with and nurturing our inherent wisdom;

        Discover ways in which wisdom can be shared with family and community.

Each “session” or component of the retreat has a theme, stories, exercises, and reflection questions for sharing and discussion.  Poetry, song, and scripture are used to help discern what Wisdom, Herself, may have in mind for participants.  Sharing is done within a listening context that aims to affirm each woman’s experiences and not to fix or give advice.  Women are encouraged to write thoughts, musings, and questions in a journal or notebook.  At the end of the retreat, women will explore ways to continue in community to gather support for self and others over time.
